Question:

I wonder if you would be able to assist. My daughter has been diagnosed with ADHD, mostly attention deficit and impulsivity.  She has started OT but I was wondering if there are any homeopathic remedies that could be used to assist with her ability to concentrate?  I am already giving her the Herbalife Omega 3 &6 Supplement called Herbalifeline as well as the Herbalife product NRG.(Natural Raw Guarana).

Answer:

There are many homeopathic remedies to correct ADHD, however each child is very individual and it is therefore important to investigate and determine why she displays symptoms of ADHD. There are many reasons including:

• * poor nutrition or dietary deficiencies
• * disturbed or lack of refreshing sleep
• * digestion disorders & deficiencies
• * deep-seated emotional issues e.g. the child may be extremely sensitive or   may be finding it difficult to adjust to unusual or difficult family circumstances
• * toxicity
• * suppressive medicines and illnesses suppressed in the past which do not allow a child to function optimally
• * and many more.  

I use a biofeedback system which assists in identifying some of these underlying causes and interestingly, have found many teachers to be suffering from attention deficit and its not hard to imagine why!  Perhaps over-crowded classrooms, low remuneration, poor nutrition, late hours marking books, huge responsibility with a high level of stress, or just sheer exhaustion may be contributing to this state.  When we have corrected these causes they no longer measure high on the ADD test.

Homeopathic remedies should be chosen according to the specific symptoms that are evident and any underlying causes that are found. One of my own children struggled for a while with symptoms of ADD and I gave her some of the best indicated remedies for the unusual behaviours, disorders and difficulties that she was presenting.  She soon became a well-balanced and effective individual able to fit more easily into everyday life! 

You should also be giving your daughter homeopathic medicine at every opportunity, for any ailment that crops up – an acute illness is the body’s way of attempting to throw off any underlying disorder, and every illness that is  overcome naturally is a victory for body, mind, emotion and spirit!
